Last week, several Forge members packed their bags, and headed to GAMA Expo. There, we met a lot of incredible people from all facets of the tabletop industry. From long-time publishers, to first-time aspiring board game designers, and even long-time legends- we were inspired by the energy around around us.
While engaging with the games, seminars, and industry news, we also had the chance to show off our own offerings. We are proud to announce the beta launch of Board Game Kit (BGK), the newest and first original product from The Forge.
What is BGK?
Board Game Kit, or "BGK" is the newest software by The Forge, meant to aid and assist board game designers in creating their board games. It is designed to assist designers from conceptualization, to actual production.
Conceptualization
We make it simple to import board game components quickly, iterate with some playtesting, and then prototype a new idea or angle.
Design and Playtesting
Once your game starts to take shape, we make it easy to create and launch a playtest fast, allowing you to get playtesters in from around the world to try out what you've created.
BGK can even import active PDF components if you've already created them, automatically importing it via industry-standard cutlines and other advanced PDF features.
Digital Showcasing
BGK will eventually do much, much more. You may have seen some of the time waster games we have demoed in the past few years to our users. The following are showcases we made using the bones of Board Game Kit:
We are happy to say these weren't random, but merely just a part of our greater testing and outreach in expanding The Forge's offerings.
Moving Forward
Now, we need your help making Board Game Kit into a finalized, polished product.
Do you design board games? We want to get your experiences integrated into the software, and make sure its the kind of software that benefits everyone in the board game space. We have big plans for what we want to do, but we can only get there with your help.
